10th Pearson-Longman annual conference and the 4th national teaching competition were held on December 15th and 16th. Ms. Wallace Zhou from SUIS Pudong won second place out of hundreds of contestants.

The final competition was close but Ms. Wallace amazed the judges and the audience with her enthusiasm, vivid manner and student-centered class design. Students reached language fluency naturally through discussions and fun games. The class ended with praise and applause from the audience. Soon after, Ms. Lilian, the director of Pearson-China courses and teacher development, expressed her appreciation.

Rome was not built in one day. Ms. Zhou is an experienced teacher keen on situational teaching approach and developing students’ soft-abilities, such as critical and creative thinking skills. She had earnestly prepared for months to go through several types of competitions and selections to be the finalist.

Ms. Zhou also wants to share the honor with the team. “The prize cannot be gained on my own. I want to appreciate the school, especially Ms. Vivia Xu and Ms. Betty Xue for their support. ”
