Dear Parents,

We hope that all parents and students enjoyed the PSG Summer Festival last Friday. The afternoon was a great success and we were all relieved that the weather was kind to us. The teachers all worked hard to support the PSG and our thanks go to both the PSG and the teachers.

We remind you that tomorrow, Saturday 2 September 2017 is our Open Day from 8.45 am – 12pm. We look forward to welcoming you.

DELE Spanish oficial examination results released

Last May, 15 of our students from G8 and IG1 took the ‘Spanish Diploma as a Foreign Language’ test (DELE).This is an official certifying degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language, granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain.

In many countries, DELE has been adopted by educational authorities and schools as a complement to their own systems of assessment. For instance, several American universities award course credit for the diplomas or require Spanish Majors to acquire them.

The DELE results for May 2017 have just been released and we are very proud that all our students obtained the certificate for which they applied.

A total of 12 students obtained their DELE A1 level Diploma, while another 3 of them obtained the higher level of DELE A2 Diploma. This is a resounding success for our students as it was the first time that our school undertook these official exams.

Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and their parents for their support!

Here is a list of students (2016-2017) who obtained the DELE certificate:

Spanish Consulate internship

Our ‘Class of 2018’ A2 student, Wendi Huang, writes: “In the summer of 2017, the school offered me a three week internship with the Spanish General Consulate in Shanghai.

The first two weeks I worked in the Spanish department; where Spanish citizens living in Shanghai can register for a residence permit. It was a great experience for practicing my spoken Spanish, in a real life context.

I also taught the Consul General Chinese. It was a big challenge for me, because knowing the language does not necessarily mean that you can teach it well! The Consul General was very polite and he addressed me in a very formal manner.

For the final week, I joined the Chinese department, where people who do not have a European passport can register for a visa. Although practising Spanish was hard in a Chinese environment, I did speak to the heads of department of visas, which was very helpful.

Overall, I have learnt so much from this experience about Spanish but also work places and public communication.

I have to give a big thank you to the school for making this possible and in particular Señor Javier, who has always supported me and helped me to oragnise this fantastic opportunity.”

With Best Wishes,
