In April, creativity filled the air as our 19th SUIS Pudong Arts Festival “Spring Art Gathering, themed around green innovation and aesthetic education” came to a warm close.
Over the past month, students explored spring through art, expressing their ideas while celebrating Earth Day with creativity and care for the environment.
Grade 1 students learned basic elements such as lines, patterns, and colors. By observing leaf shapes and veins, they created handmade artworks to decorate the campus “art tree.” Their spring-themed paintings explored foreground and background, while Earth Day projects nurtured an early sense of environmental responsibility.

Grade 2 students explored collage and clay, creating spring flowers, insects, and movable “insect agent” models. Through symmetry and simple mechanisms, they developed both creativity and practical skills while discovering the beauty of nature.

Grades 1 and 2 also focused on sustainability through hat graffiti projects. Students experimented with color combinations and decorative patterns, expressing their “green wishes” while enjoying hands-on creative work.

Grades 3-5 designed and painted eco-friendly tote bags, blending artistic knowledge with creative design. Their works depicted nature, wildlife, and low-carbon living, using art to express environmental awareness.

Grade 4 students worked with recycled materials to design eco-friendly installations inspired by kinetic sculpture. Through balance, line, and spatial composition, they deepened their understanding of sustainability and creative design.

In the Grade 4 project “World Above and Below the Horizon,” students explored Earth’s layered structure. Using scratch art techniques and fine detailing, they combined scientific knowledge with imaginative underground worlds, creating visually connected and expressive works.

Grade 5 students created three-dimensional clay totem sculptures around themes of growth, creativity, and sustainability, capturing the vitality of spring through flowers, animals, and seasonal elements.
