With love as the beginning and dreams as the sail, a new chapter of youth begins.
On May 9, 2026, SUIS Pudong Grade 8 students gathered with their teachers and parents at Hilton Shanghai Fengxian for their 14th Birthday Ceremony. Under the theme In the Best of Times, We Bloom, the evening marked a meaningful moment between childhood and adolescence, filled with warmth, gratitude, and hope.

As the lights came on, student hosts Zhou Zhenqin and Wu Xianhao opened the ceremony with gentle confidence.
Ms. Yin then shared a heartfelt message with the students, encouraging them to cherish their passions, embrace responsibility, and move forward with courage.

The stage soon came alive with music and movement. The instrumental ensemble Lemon brought a tender and lyrical touch to the evening, while the dance performance Whiplash showed the energy, confidence, and brightness of youth.
Parents, too, offered their blessings. Wu Xianhao’s mother from 8A and Zhou Linglong’s father from 8B spoke on behalf of the parent community. Their words were simple but deeply moving, reminding everyone that behind every child’s growth lies years of quiet love, patience, and companionship.
Four students, Wang Jiuzhang, Wang Yuchen, Zhu Jinyi, and Shi Yuyang, then shared their reflections in the speech Written Before Our 14th Birthday. Through their honest words, they spoke of growth, dreams, gratitude, and the responsibilities that come with this new stage of life.

One of the most touching moments came when students read letters with their parents. In the soft music and quiet light, words on paper became love, understanding, and gratitude. Many families embraced with tears in their eyes, holding close what is often felt but not always spoken.
Teachers also stepped onto the stage to offer their wishes. Their blessings carried the care, guidance, and steady support they give each day, both inside and beyond the classroom.

As the birthday cake was brought to the stage, candlelight shone on the students’ young faces. Together, they sang, made wishes, blew out the candles, and shared the sweetness of the moment.
Turning fourteen is both a farewell to childhood and the beginning of youth. This ceremony was more than a celebration; it was a lesson in love, gratitude, and growing up.
May every student carry the warmth and blessings of this evening into the years ahead, growing towards the light and blooming freely in youth.
