On 28th May, the SUIS Pudong Middle School Concert came to a wonderful close amid warm applause and cheers.
More than a performance, it was an artistic journey shared by students and teachers.
Every note on stage carried the effort of nearly three months of preparation.
From late winter to early summer, students and teachers rehearsed during lunch breaks and after school, building confidence, teamwork, and a shared love for music.
The concert brought together Middle School students from different grades.
Through orchestra, bands, dance and song, they supported one another and allowed every unique voice to be heard on stage.
Talented parent representatives also joined the stage, bringing a warm and memorable moment to the concert.
As familiar faces appeared under the spotlight, applause and laughter filled the room, reminding us of the strong connection between home and school.
We were honoured to welcome jazz saxophonist Walter Blanding and musician Finn Cai, who performed Jasmine Flower together.
As a familiar Chinese melody met jazz improvisation, students experienced the charm and artistry of professional musicians up close.
From classical to pop, from East to West, the stage was filled with highlights
The energetic grooves of student bands
The grace of ballet and Chinese dance
The confidence and energy of K-pop dance
The rhythmic power of rap
The elegance of traditional Chinese music
Behind every performance were passion, effort and dedication.
The concert may have ended, but the days of rehearsing together, the first moment when the rhythm clicked, and the applause at the final curtain will remain with us.
Perhaps this is the meaning of art:
to bring different people together, and help them find one another in the same rhythm.
