Safety always comes first. To build strong awareness of road safety and deepen home–school collaboration during the Qingming holiday, our Primary School launched the “Safe Journeys, Smart Kids” initiative.

Through learning and creative activities, students explored key safety knowledge and began to take responsibility for safe travel.

Learning Together: Safety as a Shared Lesson

The programme began with a parent–child learning initiative. From March 30 to April 6, many families watched traffic safety programmes on China Central Television children’s channels and digital platforms.

From looking both ways before crossing, to using seat belts properly and avoiding potential risks, students learned practical safety skills in a relaxed, shared setting.

At school, classes also held themed sessions. Through discussions, role play and Q&A, students learned key rules such as stopping at red lights, crossing safely, and avoiding running or pushing.

Drawing Safety: Creativity with a Purpose

During the Qingming holiday, students took on a new role—as young safety ambassadors. Through a poster design activity, they used colours and imagination to express what safe travel means to them.

Their work combined bright colours, clear messages and traffic signs, showing both creativity and understanding.

After the break, classes shared and voted on the posters. Through discussion and reflection, students strengthened their awareness and selected class “Safety Ambassadors” to promote safe habits.

Learning in Action: Building Lifelong Awareness

Safety is a lifelong lesson. Through this programme, students not only learned the rules, but began to apply them in daily life.

The school will continue to develop students’ safety awareness through ongoing activities, supporting every child to grow with confidence, responsibility, and care.
