A gentle drizzle couldn’t dampen the excitement on October 30th! By 12:45 p.m., nearly 200 parents gathered on the SUIS Pudong field, ready to join their children for a fun-filled Parent-Child Sports Day.

With rosy cheeks and bright smiles, the little athletes marched onto the field as Principal Mr. Grover delivered warm opening remarks. Music started, and the children moved to the rhythm—stretching, kicking, and twirling with cheerful energy, as if performing for the raindrops.

After warming up, it was time for seven exciting events! The air was fresh from the rain and filled with cheerful laughter. The “Inflatable Cloud Ladder” tested teamwork: pairs of families ran in rhythm, parents chanting “One-two-one” like a rap beat. Their steps were perfectly in sync, finishing a full ten seconds faster than expected. Amazing!

The loudest laughter came from the “Dart Soccer” area! A child kicked the ball, the dad followed up. Bam! Straight into the bullseye for 100 points! The little one jumped into dad’s arms for a high-five and a spin, while the photographer almost missed capturing the joyful moment. The “Beanbag Toss” game was full of love too, parents held buckets and swayed side to side as their children aimed, turning into “moving hoops” for their kids. Every successful throw ended with shared claps and giggles.

Then came the most thrilling part: the parents’ tug-of-war! The usually gentle moms and dads suddenly became “power warriors,” gripping the rope tightly, leaning back, and pulling with all their might. The little cheerleaders on the sidelines shouted “Go! Go! Go!” so loudly it felt like their voices could lift the clouds above!

When the games ended, the winning families proudly held up their certificates, eyes crinkled into joyful smiles — those certificates carried every ounce of their effort and teamwork. Though the sports day ended all too soon, the memories of running, laughing, and striving together will stay in everyone’s hearts for a long time.
