On April 19th and 20th, 18 talented students from our World Scholars’ Cup ECA from Grades 6 to 8, represented SUIS Pudong Campus at the Shanghai regional rounds of the World Scholars Cup. The event, held over two days, was a vibrant showcase of collaboration, creativity, and academic excellence, with students participating in debates, the Scholars’ Bowl, the Scholars’ Challenge, and collaborative writing.

Our students excelled in every area, winning more than 70 medals across all competitions! Notable highlights included Charlie Li from Grade 6, who earned 7th place in the Team Debates Junior Division, and Annabelle Quirk from Grade 8, who placed 3rd in the Senior Division for Collaborative Writing. These achievements are a testament to their hard work, creativity, and dedication.

The event also featured talent shows and a grand finale ceremony, with Grade 7’s own Mahika Dasri impressing the audience with her performance, adding another layer of pride to our school’s presence at the event. Students had the opportunity to integrate with and compete against peers from all over Shanghai, creating a wonderful atmosphere of connection and community.

In a fun twist, all participants walked away with the coveted World Scholars Cup mascot—the alpaca—a cherished keepsake from the competition.

This experience perfectly embodied the values we strive to instill at our school: collaboration, community, respect, resilience, and responsibility. Students demonstrated their ability to work together, reflect on their performance, and overcome challenges. Their success is a reflection of their commitment to excellence, and their qualification for the Summer Global Rounds further underscores their remarkable achievements.

We are incredibly proud of our scholars and their outstanding representation of SUIS Pudong Campus. They’ve shown what can be accomplished when creativity and teamwork come together! Go SUIS PD!
