With the warmth of spring in the air, our primary school’s interdisciplinary inquiry of the season has officially begun with the launch of the Little Gardeners project! Through careful observation, hands-on plant care, and visual journaling, students are encouraged to explore the essence of spring and reflect on how humans can better protect nature and create greener spaces.
In this journey, our young gardeners will learn from elders, research online, and experiment with different care techniques. Throughout the project, teachers will guide them to share insights, exchange plant care tips, and collaborate in their discoveries.
Each grade has received a different plant to nurture: Grade 1 students beamed with joy as they received their first colorful Kalanchoe. Grade 3 children carefully tended to vibrant carnations, a flower symbolizing gratitude. Grades 2 and 4 were given cyclamen, whose delicate blooms resemble fluttering butterflies—will different age groups develop different care strategies? Meanwhile, Grade 5 students took on the challenge of raising roses, a plant that, much like them, comes with a touch of rebellious spirit—thorns and all!
As spring breathes new life into the world, may our students and their plants flourish together, growing strong and full of vitality in this beautiful season!
