A Celebration of Imagination, House Spirit, and a Lifelong Love of Reading
想象力、学院精神与终生阅读之爱的盛典
The day began with cheers from every House as our House Captains proudly gave speeches and led chants under their newly waved animal flags. Red Dragons, Yellow Tigers, Green Snakes, and Blue Horses united in spirit, inspiring everyone to bring their enthusiasm and pride to the event. Students paraded with confidence and joy, representing not only their beloved characters but also the heart of their Houses.

As students proudly marched with their book-loving peers around the pitch, the atmosphere was alive with excitement and admiration. The costumes brought books to life, and, as Dr. Seuss so wisely said, “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!” Today’s magic was in every step of the parade, in the characters that captured our imaginations and the stories that shaped our lives.

The parade concluded with a heartfelt speech, applauding each student’s effort and creativity. House points and certificates were awarded, chants echoed one final time, and the joy of reading was celebrated in every cheer. A community group photo of the winners of the “best-dressed” book characters captured the essence of the day—students, teachers, and House Captains standing together, a testament to our school’s vibrant reading culture and shared love for books.

Yet, beyond the costumes and the fanfare, Book Character Day was a celebration that extended into the classrooms. Students spent the day learning while dressed as their favourite literary heroes, bringing extra exuberance to lessons across the school. From reading sessions to creative activities, each lesson took on a special spark as students immersed themselves in the worlds of their characters. Book Character Day was a reminder of the joy and discovery that reading brings into our lives. Every character and every book has the power to teach us something new, to help us see the world differently, and to ignite creativity and empathy. As the students paraded and later engaged in their lessons, it was clear that books are more than just words on a page—they are companions that stay with us, encouraging us to dream and explore.
