As March gently arrives, bringing with it the subtle fragrance of flowers and the verdant hues of spring, the teachers, and students of SUIS Pudong primary step out of their campus to embrace the beauty of nature up close.

The G2 students set their spring outing sights on the Shanghai Wild Animal Park. The journey was filled with laughter and shared anticipations of the wonders that awaited at the zoo. Upon arrival, their cheers echoed, as if to release all the vitality of spring. In the realm of mighty beasts, they marveled at the majestic lions, agile tigers, and gentle hippos, awe-struck by their power and the grandeur of the natural world. The primate haven gathered over seventy individuals from various species originating from Africa, the Americas, and Asia. The children laughed heartily at the antics of these playful monkeys, sharing snacks with their new furry friends. This spring outing was not only a feast for the eyes with the myriad of rare animals on display but also an educational journey that taught them much about wildlife, underscoring the importance of conservation and cherishing life.

The G3 students embarked on a joyful journey to the Songjiang Wushe Farm. Under the guidance of tour guide, they engaged in a myriad of activities: stone milling, rice hulling, rice cake making, a countryside sports meet, weeding, feeding animals, baking cakes in paper cups, fruit, and vegetable picking, and frolicking in the playground. The farm was filled with the delightful laughter of students, ringing like silver bells. Through activities of moving, doing, learning, competing, and having fun, they explored and experienced the culture of farming. Nature served as their lively classroom, and life as their best teacher. Here, the children got close to nature, unraveled its mysteries, and experienced the joy of labor.

The G4 and G5 students set off on a trip filled with joy to the Happy Valley, a place where fun meets bravery. They took turns challenging rides like the Flying Dragon roller coaster, the Drop Tower, the Blue Moon coaster, the Pirate Ship, and the Haunted House. Grouped together, they encouraged each other, “I’m scared, I can’t…” one child hesitated, retreating. “Don’t be afraid, let’s go together,” “We’ll protect you,” his peers cheered him on. Look! The power of companionship is immense; hand in hand, they surged forward together.

Exhausted from play, the students spread out their picnic mats, took out their snacks, and enjoyed the scenery, accompanied by the roaring sound of roller coasters, chatting and tasting snacks, truly a unique happiness.

Together, they braved thrilling rides, shared delicious snacks, and sang joyful songs. The G5 teachers and students sincerely reflected, “We’ve experienced our last spring outing in primary school together… we’ll plant all these beautiful memories in our hearts.”

As our journey through the nurturing embrace of nature and the atmosphere of joy comes to a temporary close, we look forward to our next date with nature, filled with anticipation!
