As a part of SUIS Pudong’s Induction Week series of training sessions, on August 24th, we invited Mr. Fu Qi from “First Response” to campus for a specialized training session on first aid. This informative session was conducted for all the staff members across the Xueye, Kangqiao, and Sanlin campuses.

Mr. Fu Qi, serving as an HS Instructor for the American Heart Association (AHA), along with being the instructor for the China Medical Rescue Association’s QCPR course, and most popular instructor and race life support instructor for “First Response,” brought a wealth of professional knowledge and practical experience, offering solid support for this training.
The training encompassed a wide array of first aid knowledge, aiming to equip all the staff with the ability to promptly respond correctly in emergencies, ensuring the safety of themselves and others. The training content included:

First Aid Basics: Starting from self-protection techniques and efficient ways to dial the emergency number 120, this session laid the foundation for responding to urgent situations.

Cardiac Arrest: Mr. Fu Qi provided a detailed demonstration of the correct use of chest compressions and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). He emphasized the importance of the “chain of survival” in scenarios of cardiac arrest.

Medical Emergencies: The training covered emergency responses to internal medical emergencies like choking, strokes, and seizures. This ensured that faculty and staff are equipped to provide appropriate assistance when needed.

Injury Emergencies: Participants learned the skills of controlling bleeding and applying bandages, along with guidance on how to address common external injuries like burns and scalds.

Environmental Emergencies: Special emphasis was placed on the emergency response procedures for drowning incidents, preventing unforeseen hazards.

During the training session, the active participation of our staff added vitality to the event. Particularly in the hands-on sessions for chest compressions and AED usage, everyone enthusiastically participated and gained more proficient knowledge about the proper usage of AEDs. This undoubtedly offered a quicker and more effective rescue mechanism for potential emergencies, reinforcing the security of campus members’ lives.
The first aid training not only imparted essential skills but also conveyed a sense of care. Our objective is to ensure that every member of the campus community possesses fundamental first aid knowledge and skills to handle emergencies, safeguarding the well-being of students and staff alike.
As the new semester approaches, let’s work together to create a safer and more comfortable learning environment for our students.
