On August 23, 2023, the entire staff from SUIS Pudong’s Xueye, Kangqiao, and Sanlin campuses came together to convene the whole staff meeting for the 2023-2024 academic year. Co-Principal Kim Sahi and Acting Principal Jenny Chen led this event, delving into the school’s development blueprint from multiple angles and championing the core values of “Integration and Collaboration,” infusing renewed vitality into the forthcoming educational journey.
The meeting commenced with a presentation by Ms. Sahi and Ms. Jenny, shedding light on the current curriculum structure and future pathways of the school. Excitingly, for the 2023 academic year, SUIS Pudong will be centering around the theme of “Integration and Collaboration,” actively fostering a dynamic and innovative learning environment to provide students with enriched learning experiences.
Co-Principal Benjamin Jin then shared the vision of the Xiehe Education Center, emphasizing the principle of ” Expanding Circles for Converging Excellence.” Through a series of initiatives, the center will steadily expand its scope, enhance the strength of key disciplines, elevate the teaching quality in weaker areas, and work towards nurturing more outstanding students. In this context, Mr. Benjamin conveyed the expectations and requisites from the district’s Education Bureau for the upcoming year, ensuring the orderly functioning of the school across aspects including safety, norms, and distinctive teaching.
Meanwhile, it’s a matter of pride that Mr. Benjamin also shared SUIS Pudong’s continuous growth in student numbers and remarkable examination results for the new academic year. Campus construction projects are also making headway, with the Kangqiao, Xueye, Sanlin, and Jinqiao campuses testifying to the vibrant progress of SUIS Pudong. The implementation of the School-Wide Integration Strategy further facilitates seamless transitions between different academic stages, ensuring smoother student progression.
Vice Principal Wendy Shui then shared the exceptional performance of the Sanlin campus in the 2023 IGCSE/A-level examinations. An impressive 60% of graduates gained confirmed offers to the top 30 universities worldwide, while the array of disciplines covered spans across engineering, commerce, humanities, sciences, medicine, arts, and sports, paving extensive paths for student futures. In the new academic year, the Sanlin campus will roll out more advanced courses and comprehensive guidance services for dual application, assisting students in achieving even higher standards in their USA/UK applications.
Assistant Principal/Head of International Secondary Bonnie Cai brought forth more heartening news – outstanding results in the 2023 local high school entrance examinations and international Primary school Cambridge Checkpoint examinations. These scores were equally impressive.
Under the theme of “Integration and Collaboration,” Ms. Sahi and Ms. Jenny jointly set clear goals for the new academic year, emphasizing the importance of collective involvement and collaborative innovation. We aim to stimulate leadership, drive uniform rule-setting and policy processes among various departments’ management teams. Facilitating improved interaction and knowledge sharing among students and teachers, as well as encouraging peer professional interaction. In the same breath, we intend to uphold the concept of curriculum interconnection, implement a unified strategy, and establish a solid foundation for comprehensive quality enhancement within the school. For the new academic year, we will establish the “Integration and Collaboration Committees” (ICC), led by members of the school’s management team, with representatives from all divisions participating, creating more platforms for staff involvement and contribution.
Lastly, the meeting ceremoniously announced the unified Qualities of SUIS Pudong School – “Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Reflection, Collaboration, Creativity, Community and Excellence.” This will be the collective endeavor for all teachers, students, and staff to jointly work towards, creating a brighter future for SUIS Pudong.
