As the early summer days grow, the south wind carries the fragrance of grass and trees. On June 9th, the 7th-grade drama course performance was held in the auditorium as scheduled. Leaders and parents attended the event, creating a lively and delightful atmosphere.
The school has launched a special drama project creation activity guided by the concept of quality education and drama education. The aim is to enhance students’ dramatic literacy and abilities, stimulate their interest in the art of drama, and cultivate fundamental skills in drama performance, oral expression, and social cognition. Various drama-themed courses are offered with the fundamental direction of “voice, stage, and form.” By integrating and reconstructing subjects, natural growth occurs.
This performance consisted of a “trilogy,” allowing us to appreciate the students’ unique talent and charm.

Theatrical oration: Blossoming thoughts.
The students engaged in lively discussions about theatrical analysis, showcasing their unique and profound appreciation skills, and revealing their budding talent on the path of literary appreciation.

Theatrical debate: Wielding words like swords.
The captivating question of whether tragedy or comedy holds greater allure ignited a passionate debate that transcended time and space within the auditorium. With verbal battles and eloquent expressions, the applause resounded in waves.

Theatrical performance: Radiating charm.
Injecting various emotions and atmospheres into the transformative interplay of light and shadow, this is the unique allure of the stage. The scales of justice lean towards severity and impartiality within the courtroom. The theatrical performance of “The Merchant of Venice” unfolded gradually amidst the rich melodies, offering us a fictitious reflection of Belmont.

This theater activity was primarily divided into two aspects: theatrical debate and theatrical performance. As the chairperson of the debate competition, I witnessed everyone’s continuous pursuit of the essence of drama. The debates, filled with verbal battles, created a feast for the senses and critical thinking. In terms of performance, my fellow students flawlessly portrayed the characters from Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice,” fostering our love for and resonance with theater while broadening our knowledge.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the silent dedication of every teacher in the audience. I express my gratitude to the dream weavers of SUIS, who have given us the opportunity to shine on the stage.

I raised my camera, capturing the rehearsals of my classmates, witnessing every drop of sweat they shed. It made me truly understand the arduousness of “one minute on stage, ten years of practice” proverb. The process of continuous improvement and self-transcendence filled me with anticipation for the upcoming performance, and the final presentation exceeded my expectations. The stage lights were dazzling, my classmates’ makeup was exquisite, their speech clear, and their pronunciation flawless. They vividly brought the Venice of over 400 years ago back to life before our eyes. The active interaction between parents and students during the debate competition left a deep impression on me. Faced with the brilliant performances of the theatrical production, I couldn’t help but marvel at how the camera could not capture their stunning acts to the fullest extent. In the blink of an eye, the semester draws to a close, and the drama course concludes with the performance in this joyful and laughter-filled June. However, the journey of love for and pursuit of theater knows no bounds and will continue endlessly.

This semester has turned out to be a magnificent wonder of an excursion through space and time. We have examined the masterworks of the pantheon of directors and playwrights. From Shakespeare’s western, romantic, and mocking words to the priceless beauty of romance of TangXianZu, we have been the audacious advocates of astounding drama and of course, the true, innate value of a tragedy, or a comedy.
One impressive activity is our debate. Our topic is “Which one has more value: a comedy or a tragedy?”, a dilemma still not yet to be solved. Through humorous words and coherent arguments, we have succeeded immensely in convincing the audience and in fabricating an epic, amicable dispute, trying to find the perfect solution to this hard-to-be-solved issue.

The highlight of the evening was our powerful performance of “The Merchant of Venice,” where we breathed life into Shakespeare’s words. The event allowed us to showcase our skills, passion, and growth. It was a moment I will cherish, forever etched in my heart as a testament to the transformative power of theater.
