In the Autumn of October 2022, our SUIS Pudong–Kangqiao Campus together with the Oriental National Instrument Museum, will be holding a cultural exhibition of minority instruments with the theme of ” Literary Accompanied by Music”. The exhibition allows students to enjoy rare musical instruments of our minorities of China.

On October 17th the ” An Exhibition of Ethnic Musical Instruments and Culture” officially kicked off in our school. At the opening ceremony, Shi Yin, curator of the museum, and the Principals of SUIS Pudong, Ms Sahi and Ms Cai delivered an opening speech. There were 30 student representatives from our school who participated in the event.

Our talented students brought a wonderful performance of national instruments, including the bamboo flute performance “Spring to Xiangjiang River” by Lily Xu from Class 6B, and the zither performance “High Mountains and Flowing Water” by Tanya Xu from Class 6C. The music was melodious and full of charm on campus.

The Oriental Musical Instrument Museum has more than 30 kinds of Chinese minority musical instruments, about 200 pieces. In this exhibition, more than a dozen distinctive musical instruments of Tibetan, Zhuang, Manchu and other nationalities have been selected for the exhibition, and the combination of pictures and real objects enables students to enjoy the unique charm of national musical instruments on the school campus and feel the vastness of oriental music culture.

The exhibition will last from October 17th to November 4th. During this period, there will be team guided tours, interactive lectures, as well as related activities in conjunction with our art curriculum. We look forward to enjoying the exhibition!
