What do you expect the most during the month of December at SUIS Pudong? Undoubtedly, it is the Annual Winter Concert!
The Winter Concert is an integration and union of Chinese and Western music, and also a display of the musical achievements of our students. Let the sound of music open the doors to our hearts and warm up our souls during the cold winter season.
Two concerts performed by our talented chorus and string orchestra opened up the curtain of this year’s “The Season of the Year”.
Spring-Rebirth and Vitality
Having only been in school for three months, the Grade One students have already mastered a dynamic song: “Shaolin Heroes” and the jubilant tune: “Beautiful Child Of This World”; a perfect resemblance of the idiom “To a year, the best time is spring; to a day is the morning.”It comes to show that through hard work and perseverance, we can reap the colorful and tender fruits of life.
Summer-Birds and cicadas serenade, Beaming sunlight
The second, fourth, and fifth grade Xiehe students bring a combination of singing, dancing, and Chinese and western musical instruments. The audience immersed themselves in the warmth of “Quiet Summer”, while indulging on a silky chocolate drink or a refreshing lemonade: “Loving You At 105 Degrees”, and having a sweet summer dream: “Around the Stars”.
Autumn-Golden Breeze and Autumn Harvest
Our fifth graders showed us the colors of autumn by performing one of Cold Play’s classic rock pieces: “Yellow” and took us across the golden fields with the tunes of “Scent of Rice”. The fourth-grade students performed their “Cup Dance” to demonstrate their hard work in achieving uniform rhythm in their musical prowess. At the same time, the first-year Xiehe students sang and danced to “Pity the Farmers” to illustrate an ancient poem, while reminding us to cherish and respect the harvests of our country’s farmers.
Winter-The silver glow of wintry snow
The theme for this season is a collaboration between the first, second and fourth grades. They performed the clear and holy winter carol: “Winter Canon”as the gentle “Little Snowflakes” landed on the ground, followed by “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?”.
Children express their youth and vitality through a song, a piece of music, singing, dancing, and instrumentals. The daily life of SUIS students progress like the season and every moment and experience is priceless. Every day is the “Season of Smiles”.
In every annual winter concert, we witness the hard work and growth of our students as they embark on their musical journeys. At the same time, the hearts of teachers and parents draw closer on and off the stage.
