Dear Parents,
It was wonderful to see so many of our current Primary parents at our Grade 5-to-6 Transition evening and lots of new faces too. The event was a showcase for our students, who through the support of the Head of Pastoral, Ms. Hart and the Grade 6-7 Coordinator Mr Joyce, managed the event efficiently. We were all impressed by the musical performances of our talented students on stage too.
The show started with music from Michael Chen (IG1) on piano, a heartfelt peformance from Catalina Vasquez (G7) and William Dai (IG1) with a memorabl crowd-stomper from Tony Tian and David Pan (IG1). The event was ably held together by our hosts Mike Yang (G8) and Elena Orihuela Sanz (G7). They shared their own experiences of the move from G5 to G6. The recently appointed Head Girl, Holly Watson and Head Boy Owen Hu led the parents through the educational pathway we follow here and reflected on their time at SUIS Pudong.
We commend Tomomi Kawaguchi and Andrea Dionysiou who filmed and edited a fantastic video especially to welcome the Grade 5s. The students really surpassed themselves. There will be several more events for Grade 5 in the future so do watch this space.
Introducing our New Head Girl and Head Boy
Holly Watson Owen Hu
Holly Watson as Head Girl writes:
“As an A2 student I believe I am in a position to be a role model and demonstrate leadership to the younger students. Being an A level student also means that I can organize my own time, which leaves me lots of ‘free time’ to be able to organise activities and focus on helping the other stduents. Some of my accomplishments from last year include: Movember charity, the charity haul, Running a CCA club, raising money for Student Mentoring Group and the chocolate bean challenge amongst a few! I hope to have more successful projects this year. I also want to use this experience to improve my public speaking I want to push myself with public speaking so it can be one less thing to worry about and being head girl would be a great way to overcome this.”
Owen Hu as Head Boy writes:
“I have been an active member of the school for over four years; being involved in countless school-wide events and activities. This has built me a solid reputation amongst my peers and earned me respect from staff.
I have an extensive amount of experience as a leader. Having been a house captain, sports team captain, and leader of various projects, I feel comfortable and confident leading and representing a group.”
House T Shirts
From this academic year house T-shirts will be available for purchasing online from the SUIS uniform website. Every student will be expected to have a house T-shirt as they will be used for many events throughout the year.
