The Spanish Department ran an exciting event to celebrate the link that many people, and many different countries and cultures all around the world have because of the Spanish language.

Some of our native speakers students ran the assembly that day. Valeria Galvan Sotres (IG1) gave us a very interesting presentation about how Spanish has become a common link for all Spanish speakers. Also, there was a beautiful performance from Elena Orihuela Sanz (G7), playing the well-known Spanish song “Que viva España” on guitar and Cata VAZQUEZ also in G7 with her melodious voice singing the Argentinian song “Aprender a volar”. Finally, they were presented with their DELE certificates.

Throughout the day, Spanish students from Grades 6, 7 and 8 learnt how to prepare some traditional dishes from Mexico and Spain. They really enjoyed the cooking workshops but they enjoyed even more eating their own food!

At lunch time, we were delighted to join the Spanish Department, the native speakers, our A Levels students and some parents for an Hispanic meal. They all had the opportunity to enjoy several Hispanic dishes prepared by the native speaking parents and the Spanish teachers.

This was only the start: our first time celebrating the Hispanic Day. It was a great experience for everyone involved and we are looking forward to next year celebrations, which will bring even more surprises!

The Spanish department is really grateful to those parents that collaborated with us to make this day so special. It would have not been possible to run the events without their cooperation and effort. Muchas gracias to:
