Dear Parents,

This has been a very busy week preparing for Book Week which will take place next week.  The students are very excited  about all the events that will take place and especially the Story Writing Competition.  The books that the students have submitted are of a very high standard and the judges are going to have a hard time selecting the winners.  This year the dress up day on Friday will be on the theme of Book Characters.  Please read the Guidelines attached to this letter regarding students bringing money to spend at school.  We would like this to be a skill development opportunity.

For a couple of weeks Grade 5 students have been learning about poster designs and working on their own posters during Visual Art lessons. As a part of learning process, on Thursday, October 12th three Grade 5 classes have visited Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre. This is the only museum of this kind in the world and it features the biggest existing collection of the propaganda material of Twentieth Century China. This outing allowed us to get a deeper insight into the Chinese history, art of poster – making and extend learning experiences beyond the walls of the classroom.

Students have all been allocated to their house and house events will begin soon.  Please make sure that you have purchased the correct house T-shirt from the online SUIS uniform supplier.

We wish you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Regards,
