Dear Parents,
We are well and truly back in the hustle and bustle of school life. We would like you to take a moment to congratulate the students on such a focused start to the school year. The secondary students have really impressed around the school; from high standards of uniform and manners to focused studies, they really have been role models to the rest of the school.
This week saw the applications for Student Voice deadline. The student Voice is a student led group working with the staff to better our community. Last year the group successful ran Kindness Month, Movember, Student IT Server- to name but a few initiatives.
We were inundated with high-calibre letters, with the focus really being on how the students would lead their own independent projects- some letters included fully formed ideas- ready to go.
We look forward to announcing the successful team next week.
This year for the first time in our history we will also be electing a head boy and a head girl – which is a very prestigious position.
There has been quite a lot of information to parents regarding CCAs, music auditions, Football/Basketball clubs etc. last week and this week. Please make sure you read the content carefully so that your child is given the choices they request. This should all settle down very soon as the routines for this academic year are put into place.
CCA
This week the students have been selecting their CCA activity. Mr Romano our new Head of PE has ensured that once again we are able to offer a wide varity of exciting activities. Your son or daughter’s tutor will inform them of their placement next week.

Teachers’ Day
Many thanks to all of the students and parents who spoilt our teachers with cards and gifts last week. Please see pictured below Gabrielle Bongo (G8) and Dora Zhou (IG1) who were tasked with handing out flowers to the staff.
Morning Drop-off Notice
The school gates will open from 8:15-8:30 am for both Yuntai and Xueye Road entrance. The students who take the school bus will also stay on board if the bus arrives early than that time. We ask all parents/guardians to not drop off their sons/daughters at school via the Xueye Road entrance, for safety reasons but use the Yuntai Road entrance instead. Please do support us in keeping everyone safe!
Student registration
In line with government policy to standardise student records at schools, SUIS Pudong is requested to ensure that all students of compulsory age of education (Grades 1-9) will be registered with the local education authority. This is common in schools all over the world but will take time for us – it will be done in phases – given the size of enrolment. To complete the process, original documents such as passports, hukou (if relevant) etc. must be submitted. However, our school admin support team will direct the process for ease of your convenience i.e. you will simply be asked to give them original documents which will be returned to you shortly afterwards. You will be given precise details of when and how this will occur in due course. We thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this matter.
University news
SUIS Pudong sent a delegation to the New York University presentation on admissions in Shanghai yesterday. It was nice to see other SUIS schools present at the event (see picture attached). This reminded us that we are part of a larger enterprise and therefore all schools are committed to further collaboration to enhance university guidance of our students.
Moreover, we now have received invitations to meet with Directors of Admissions from seven out of eight Ivy League universities (Yale, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Brown, Cornell, Princeton, Columbia) – renowned as some of the best in the US and the world to introduce our school to them. This is evidence of our commitment to effective preparation of students of all ages to be admitted to the best universities in the world.
We wish you all a pleasant weekend.
With Best Wishes,
